Even with strong efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions, our climate is already changing and will keep changing for decades. This chapter is about the economics of adjusting to those changes — how we can spend money wisely now to reduce future damage from floods, heatwaves, droughts, and rising seas. In other words, we shift from asking “how do we stop climate change?” to “how do we live safely and affordably in a warmer world?”
