Many real-world systems change over time with some random wiggles — a stock price, a pollen grain jiggling in water, an electrical circuit with thermal noise. In this chapter, we learn how to write down mathematical models for such systems, how to make sure the models work, and how to find links between random paths and partial differential equations.
