Up until now, most of what we have explored about negotiation involves two parties sitting across a table. But real life rarely looks that neat. A business merger, a community zoning decision, a family planning a reunion — these involve many people, each with their own interests, relationships, and opinions. In this chapter, we step into that complicated, noisy, and often fascinating world of multiparty and team-based negotiations. The main challenge changes from simply swapping offers to guiding the whole conversation so everyone can actually reach an agreement that works.
